Master Plan

Dr Brungardt reviewed the progress on the first six to eight months objectives in implementing the Master plan. Progress on some of these objectives is summarized here.

  • A special commission comprised of representatives from the lake and local community is meeting regularly to make recommendations concerning governance and financial stability of the lake and the resulting economic growth for the area.
  • Background work with KDOT and Morris County has been accomplished to request a preliminary engineering plan to improve county roads leading to Lake residences
  • The replacement of the north boat ramp loading dock is being researched, including a search for available grants to assist the city in the replacement.
  • A review of the of the Lake Association Bylaws was accomplished by a committee and their recommendation was unanimously approved by a vote at the annual meeting.
  • Expansion and improvement of the Lake Association website is nearing completion with a target completion date of 1 August
  • The executive board and other volunteers are continuing contacting and coalition building with KDHE, KDWP, KDOT, KS Dept of Commerce
  • Renovation and beatification of the entrance signs to the City Lake Park is complete and a continuing maintenance plan is in place.
  • The city has replaced the City Lake Park sign on US Highway 56 , with future plans to place a sign on highway 177 North.

The outline of these objectives is attached to the June minutes in this mailing. If you would like to volunteer to facilitate one of these initiatives please email us. The Master Plan, in its entirety, is available on the web site http://www.cgclakeassoc.org/.

Lake Entrance Signs

Thanks to Bill and Jane Swofford who led a group of volunteers in renovating the lake entrance signs and building flowers beds to beautify the signs. The project was no small task! The plan also includes maintenance of the plants. If you would like to assist with, or be part of the maintenance program, please email us at cglakeassoc@yahoo.com. Please include your contact information, such as phone or email.

Fourth of July Celebration

The CG City Lake's Fourth of July festivities will be held on Saturday, July 1.  In addition to the popular boat regatta, lake front\ cabin decorating contest is being planned.  A flyer accompanies this newsletter and is also available on the Lake Association's website: cgclakeassoc.org If you would like to volunteer to help organize and implement these activities, call Christie Brungardt (I-21) at 620 767-8355, or email at cjbrunga@fhsu.edu.

Recommended Bylaws Changes Unanimously Approved At Annual meeting The By-Laws committee, Joyce Hutter, Vern Hay, Jean Krause, Judy Powell and Christy Brungardt met and recommended the following changes be made to the By-Laws:
Article VI – Amendments to By-Laws
Section 1. Amendments to the By-Laws shall be submitted to the executive committee for approval. Once approved, proposed changes will be placed on a ballot and one ballot will be mailed for each lease.
Section 2. Amendments to the By-Laws shall require a majority of ballots received no later than two weeks after the ballots are mailed.

This proposed change removes the restriction that bylaws can be changed only at the annual meeting, and provides all leaseholders the opportunity to vote on changes by ballot. These recommended changes were unanimously approved at the annual meeting, June 3, 2006

The current bylaws are available on the Lake Association web site http://www.cgclakeassoc.org/
